Biography


Emily Granville is an Odawa-Cree musician from Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory on Manitoulin Island. After attending Cambrian College for Music Performance in piano, Emily is now graduating from the Bachelor of Music program at Laurier. Emily has an interest in composition, collaborative performance, and ethnomusicology from an Indigenous lens. Most recently, Emily has performed, directed, produced and composed their own piece through the Paprika Theatre Festival, performed at the Northern Ontario Music and Film Awards, and volunteers as a piano teacher for the Community Music School of Waterloo Region. Emily is excited to be furthering their education in the MA Ethnomusicology program at The University of British Columbia in the fall.

Emily Granville est musicien Odawa-Cri, originaire du territoire non cédé de Wiikwemkoong sur l’île Manitoulin. Après avoir étudié l’interprétation musicale en piano au Collège Cambrian, iel termine actuellement un baccalauréat en musique à l’Université Wilfrid Laurier. Emily s’intéresse à la composition, à la performance collaborative et à l’ethnomusicologie à travers une perspective autochtone. Plus récemment, iel a interprété, dirigé, produit et composé une œuvre originale dans le cadre du Paprika Theatre Festival, perfromé aux Northern Ontario Music and Film Awards, et fait du bénévolat comme enseignant de piano à la Community Music School de la région de Waterloo. Emily est enthousiaste à l’idée de poursuivre ses études cet automne dans le programme de maitrise en ethnomusicologie de l’Université de la Colombie-Britannique.

Biography


Miriam Drysdale is a graduate of Randolph College for the Performing Arts, The Second City Conservatory Program, and is on the cusp of graduating from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor of Music Therapy. Miriam worked for over 10 years in the performing arts, specializing in music theatre and improv and enjoyed a dynamic career that brought her to stages across North America. Miriam has since refocused her energy into learning how music can be used as a powerful tool to help individuals enhance their health and wellbeing across several domains. Miriam now performs only once every one thousand years, lucky for you it’s tonight.

Biography


Natalia Sawyer, originally from Vancouver, is completing her music degree at Wilfrid Laurier University. Currently based in Kitchener-Waterloo, she’s known for her versatility as a collaborative pianist, conductor, and improviser. Her recent performances include productions with the KW Singers, Opera Laurier, and at the Paprika Festival in Toronto. In concert, she has conducted the Kitchener-Waterloo Youth Orchestra in performances at Centre in the Square, the Conrad Centre, and First United Church in Waterloo. In addition to her performance commitments, Natalia shares her passion for music through teaching piano.

Établie à Kitchener-Waterloo, Natalia est reconnue pour sa polyvalence en tant que pianiste collaborative, cheffe d’orchestre et improvisatrice. Récemment, elle a participé à des productions avec les KW Singers, Opera Laurier, ainsi qu’au Paprika Festival à Toronto. En concert, elle a dirigé l’Orchestre des jeunes de Kitchener-Waterloo dans des prestations au Centre in the Square, au Conrad Centre et à la First United Church de Waterloo. En plus de ses engagements artistiques, Natalia partage sa passion pour la musique en enseignant le piano.
