EXHIBITION – Studio Projects’ most recent community-curatorial project Art – Environment – Life – Everything explores the intersecting points of artistic practice through the lens of environmental and collective survival. Together, Artist-Curators distance between us, Tara & Clayton Windatt and Emilio & Elyse Portal function as a multi-arts collective. Works will include media, performance, installation and audience participation. Bring hope and ideas. All are welcome. more info.

A casual celebration of staff, artists and festival patrons to kick off the start of the 2023 festival. Come have food and drink with us as we socialize and reconnect. The restaurant will be open and we will be enjoying ourselves on the patio.

7:00 pm > SCREENING – Cole Forrest – The current wave of Indigenous filmmaking breaks ground with every frame and amplifies the distinct experiences we all undertake as Indigenous people. We show ourselves through the magic of genre and reach beyond what was creatively possible. Make no mistake, the films in this program exemplify the power short films have, especially within Indigenous cinema. more info.

7pm > The Art Shack Experience

EXHIBITION – Napoleon Brousseau – The Art Shack is a story installation space, an intimate theater constructed from painting artifacts created in the original Art Shack, “art works as a building material for an intimate space for the expose into the creative process that encompasses all the aspects of my creative practice, painting, writing, music, performance, and installation works”. Inside the theater, the building blocks of the story space have been digitally manipulated into a series of videos that tell a story. Viewers are invited to enter the art shack to experience the creative process on an intimate level, the narration by the artist’s voice as an ASMR (Autonomous sensory meridian response) reinforces the intimacy of the creative experience.

PERFORMANCE – CreateDangerously – NEURONS is a short performance dance piece that takes a look inside the mind and how outside influences affect and shape the functions of our brain and disrupt communication within it causing us to turn on ourselves. Programmer: CreateDangerously

Installation – FabFilmFest – Art Party is a celebration of the festival and a reception for all our artists. What better way to close this year’s festival with a catered art party. Light refreshments and snacks provided. All are welcome.
